rainbow-web

Rainbow Web is a simple match 3 or more orbs on a spider web Mac game.  It begins with a tale about a magical land where everything is perfect until one day an evil, envious spider destroys their kingdom.  He casts a spell over the land and spins a web around the countryside.  A kindly wizard left a small portal to let you in and save the people.  Your job is to match 3 balls on the web and free letters to restore real names of the magic scenery.  Once all the names are back in order the kingdom will be restored to the happy state it was before darkness fell on them.

There are 2 modes to this game.  The Classic (timed) and Relaxed (untimed).  The play is simple.  You only need to click on an orb and swap it with another to form 3 or more like colored orbs across or up and down.  It is only a little difficult because the web expands and makes matches harder to see on the outer edges.  Some of the orbs have letters on them.  These are the scrambled letters you need to retrieve so you can restore the names of the places in the kingdom.  You need only to make matches on the orbs with the letters.

I did not find the relaxed mode challenging enough so I tried to switch it to the Classic, but for some reason I could not change the mode.  I think the timed factor may have been better.  The music is soothing but uninspiring.  I found my mind drifted to other things while playing this game.  Rainbow Web would be a great game for people who want to try a match type play for the first time, and it would be good for children.  I think if you need to unwind and relax, this game is definitely for you, but if you are looking for action and excitement, try another game.

Warblade

Alien invaders are making their way towards earth and it is up to you, once again, to save the human race. Based on the game Galaga, Warblade is your basic shoot em up arcade Mac game. Even still, it’s an awesome game to play. These types of games are one of my favorites, and I could play them all day.

Warblade, like other games, starts out easy and then gets mega crazy with tons of alien ships coming toward you in unpredictable patterns and formations. Can those guys fly straight? You move your simple, but effective, spaceship back and forth shooting as you go. Be sure to grab all the bonuses and coins while you are at it to increase your score. As if you didn’t have enough to do shooting down the barrage of alien ships, you also need to zigzag your way through the asteroid fields. Thank goodness you can shop for upgrades for your precious ship. Many features are unlocked as you go so never fear there will be more effective and bigger weapons for you to use. However the aliens have billions of ships, and to make your play more exciting, the dreaded bosses. How do you beat those guys and the kamikaze attackers?

Warblade is a highly addictive shooter arcade game very similar to Galaga, but with much better graphics. Instead of the lone, pitiful tank, you have an updated, sleek spaceship of the best caliber to fight the enemies. This basic 1 good guy against a lot of bad aliens is so fast-paced and with so much action, you’ll play for hours unless your hands tire out from shooting. Just enjoy yourself with Warblade, blast off to outer space and shoot all the alien invaders.

Features of Warblade:
-100 Levels
-Uncover Secrets and Bonus Games
-Use Strategy
-Beat the Bosses

Platypus

Enter the world of claymation with this unique arcade shooter! Platypus has all the fun of a classic arcade spaceship shooting game in the comfort of your own house. It is fun to play and easy to learn, so gather the family and get ready to take on the hostile aliens.

There are 4 strange and wonderful levels each with a plethora of stages for you to take on. The object of the game is simple, shoot as many of the approaching enemies as possible without getting hit by their fire. It is that simple! The fun lies in avoiding these floating bullets and destroying certain waves of ships to earn power-ups. These power-ups last momentarily (usually about half a minute) and really help to keep the aliens at bay.

What I really liked about this game was the two player mode. The single player mode uses the mouse to fly around and shoot, but the two player allows a second person to get on the keyboard and join in the action. This is fun and keeps the game interesting as teamwork becomes a factor in the battle.

I really liked the graphics in this game. The look that the claymation effect gave was awesome and had a neat cartoonish feel. The music was also fun and imaginative, definitely appropriate for the type of game but fun and happy at the same time. I would recommend this game to everyone, but especially to those parents who want their kids to be able to enjoy a fun and kid friendly game. Platypus gets four out of five stars.
