Blood Ties Review

Hidden object games are getting so involved and intricate that you need to have some sort of private investigator’s license to play these game. Blood Ties is more than a normal investigation. It involves kidnapping, vampires and evil demons. Even though the story is intense and thoroughly engaging, the Mac game is your basic hidden object game with very little side puzzles.

Vicki Nelson is investigating 14 kidnappings with Henry Fitzroy, a 450 year old vampire. All 14 kidnapped people belonged to the Hellfire Club. This club at one time wanted to sacrifice Henry for immortality by summoning the demon, Astaroth. Henry stopped them and the club changed their evil ways. The members now hold 14 fragments of a Magical Tablet that when it comes together, it diminishes Astaroth’s powers to do evil. The 14 people were kidnapped to keep the tablet from being reassembled to resurrect Astaroth.

The play is very straightforward by playing hidden object games in different locations such as the homes of the victims, museum, park and library. There is a list of items you need to find at each scene. You only click on the items needed, and symbols if you find them, will give you additional hints. After getting all the pieces you complete a level and get a fragment of the Magical Tablet.

Blood Ties is based on a TV series and the plot is very current with the vampire Twilight theme. The hidden object scenes were cluttered as usual but clear and interesting. I enjoyed playing this game for the story and the play with little distraction from mini puzzles.

Rating: ★★★½☆
