Mac Games – reviews and game downloads

Can you remember the good old days when video games were simple and fun? Well, I’m too young to remember that, but if I was a little bit older I would remember games like Titan Attacks more fondly.  This game is like the new Ford Mustang, it feels familiar but is so much cooler and feels so much newer.  Titan Attacks is a basic clone of Space Invaders, but brings the old into a new era.

The object of this game is to prevent the invaders from taking over earth.  You are in a tank that shoots bullets and bombs.  As you destroy more and more invaders, you gain money to buy upgrades in catagories like guns and shield.  This gives you more protection against the waves of enemies that drop down from the sky.  As the levels continue, the enemies get harder to destroy and come at you faster.

Titan Attacks, like Space Invaders, is an arcade game.  The highest score wins the game.  Personally, this game reminds me of good times down at the arcade.  This game is extremely addicting and lets you autosave the game, if you have to quit suddenly.  The only problem one might have with this game is the originality factor, but I saw it as a new and improved version of a classic. I would give this game 4 stars out of 5.

Santa Claus needs help from you in Santa’s Super Friends, an action filled Mac game. A problem arose with one of the production workers at the toy factory and that person was fired. In retaliation Stanley Reek stole all the toys days before Christmas. You have to help the elves make enough toys for all the good children in the world.

There are 2 modes to this lively game with seasonal type music. A conveyor belt snakes around the workshop bringing different colored toy parts down the line. You must match the color and the pieces to make one complete toy. The brown teddy bear must have a brown head, body, right arm, left arm, right leg and left leg. Initially there are few colors and few parts to complete a level in the Quest mode, but that slow work stops quickly and there are more parts, more colors and different types of toys coming down the conveyor belt. You must put together a number of toys before the level is complete. In Survival mode parts keep coming down the line until they reach the warning sign and ends the game.

Since there are 3 difficulty levels, children and casual gamers can both enjoy this play. It does get challenging in the higher levels because Santa is in a hurry and needs his toys as soon as possible. This is a fun play at any time and being a Christmas theme is an added plus.

Bubble Shooter is an arcade like shooting/match Mac game. There are many different combinations of ways you can play this game. From easy-going to challenging modes of play, you make the decision. The soothing music plus the colorful bubbles descending down the screen brings about a restful, relaxing game of matching the orbs.

You have your choice of options: Strategy or Arcade and Classic versus Sniper. In strategy you shoot the orbs up to the rows of bubbles above. You need to match 3 or more like colors to pop them. The more bubbles you pop, the more points you garner. If you cannot make a match, more bubbles will descend the screen. If you should burst all the bubbles, you complete the level. In arcade, the bubbles continuously descend down the screen. You need to make your matches quickly before they reach the bottom. Once a bubble touches the bottom, all the bubbles will burst ending your game.

Whatever your skill level this game can be tailored to meet your needs. Make it easy or challenging to play. The music is soothing so if you want to have a relaxing play, this game may be for you. Similar games are Phantasia which I liked and Aqua Bubble (I didn’t like so much). See if this match 3 or more game is made for you.
