Jets ‘n’ Guns Gold Review

Jets n Guns

Jets ‘n’ Guns Gold. The name grabs you immediately and is basically exactly what you would expect: Jets and Guns. You are a fighter pilot in space who has to take down an entire army of attackers by yourself. Like any good shooter game, the opening screen starts by telling you how graphic and bloody the game will be.  Get ready to shoot-up some spaceships.

To start, there are three levels of difficulty: way too easy, regular and hard.  After you choose this, you get to upgrade your spaceship with different types of guns and bombs.  To add more upgrades, you earn money for completing the stage and destroying everything in your path.  The game is fairly simple, as you shoot and bomb while avoiding bullets and large objects that cause you harm.  The cool part about that is that most of the level can be destroyed, creating a clear path by enemies.

The objective is fairly self explanitory, as the title of the game suggested and Jets ‘n’ Guns Gold is pretty fun.  It was very difficult on the upper levels, but if you enjoy a challenge this is the Mac game for you.  If I could change something, it would be the amount of enemies because there are parts of the game where it is too overwhelming.  Other than that, the graphics were amazing, the story was subpar but not essential to gameplay, and the controls worked excellently.  I would give this game three and a half stars out of five.

Sweetopia Review

Sweetopia

Running a candy factory is no walk in the park for Kate Gainsborough and her grandfather. The legendary candy factory is going through some hectic times as candy is flowing at an alarming rate from all corners. Trains and trains of candy orbs are in need of Kate to match up 3 or more colors to stop this candy madness from getting out of hand.

Sweetopia is very similar to the game Luxor I have previously reviewed on macgames.info. The matching and firing of color orbs is always very enjoyable for myself even if the games are near identical to each other. As every level gets more and more intricate and tougher, more power-ups and different locations to fire from become available to destroy those pesky candy trains. Overall Sweetopia is a treat worth buying and is a 4.5 out of 5 stars as I can not see myself getting bored with playing this type of game no matter how many variations I’ve played in the past.

Titan Attacks Review

Baby Sitting Mania

Can you remember the good old days when video games were simple and fun? Well, I’m too young to remember that, but if I was a little bit older I would remember games like Titan Attacks more fondly.  This game is like the new Ford Mustang, it feels familiar but is so much cooler and feels so much newer.  Titan Attacks is a basic clone of Space Invaders, but brings the old into a new era.

The object of this game is to prevent the invaders from taking over earth.  You are in a tank that shoots bullets and bombs.  As you destroy more and more invaders, you gain money to buy upgrades in catagories like guns and shield.  This gives you more protection against the waves of enemies that drop down from the sky.  As the levels continue, the enemies get harder to destroy and come at you faster.

Titan Attacks, like Space Invaders, is an arcade game.  The highest score wins the game.  Personally, this game reminds me of good times down at the arcade.  This game is extremely addicting and lets you autosave the game, if you have to quit suddenly.  The only problem one might have with this game is the originality factor, but I saw it as a new and improved version of a classic. I would give this game 4 stars out of 5.
