Hexus Review

The ancient land of Egypt is full of fascinating history to explore and learn. Hexus, an unusual match game, will let you become the pharaoh of your own community. Lead your people to build and flourish in a new land by playing a match game with a major twist.

The story mode starts with the powerful King Nehesi being killed by the evil hordes of invaders known as the Hyksoses. They conquered your kingdom, enslaving some people. The others escaped and started a new civilization further down the Nile. These desperate people are waiting for their new leader to free them from the invaders.

Begin the play by selecting your avatar either male or female. You can customize the look of your person by changing the face (nose, mouth and eyes) of new pharaoh and then dressing this person with different headgear and outfits. Tanak is your stylist and he’ll assist you with jewelry and clothes. You are now ready to confront the tasks waiting for you.

The game board will display hexagon tiles with artifacts embedded in them. You need to match 6 or more of the identical items to clear and earn gold and silver coins. You need to connect the like gems together when you see the dots. Collect the coins by clicking on them on the board. Your tasks will be listed at the left of the screen, the bonuses will be displayed on the right and the coins earned will be at the corner upper left.

After completing the tasks you will be taken to the sim play where as the leader of your people you must construct a city for your masses to reside and flourish. You can purchase roads, buildings and more to create a beautiful living environment for your people. You’ll get helps from the architect, Anhotep.

Find 10 ancient artifacts and earn trophies are 2 more things you need to do in this multi-faceted game. Once I got the hang of connecting the dots to make matches, the play became more addictive. With no timer, you can strategize each move. It is a relaxing game you can play at leisure. If you are super competitive, you will not like this game, but you never know so try it out and see if you can lead your people to freedom and a better life.
