Iceblast! Review

iceblast

Iceblast is a fun and interesting puzzle/RPG that gives you the chance to save the world from global warming! You are part of a team of three girls, each having a special ice blasting power. Each has their own particular skill: the first breaks one single icicle at a time, the second punches three at a time, and the last can choose three separate targets to take one icicle out each. The trick is to switch between the three while the other two are waiting to regain their power.

The premise of the game is a little fantastic and makes it seem like there is a new ice age that only you can stop. As the levels progress, each girl has separate power-ups that they can buy with credits from beating the level. These power-ups include faster recovery and more ice blasted each turn. These become very valuable as the game progresses.

I really enjoyed this game, even though it was targeted toward children. It was fast-paced and innovative, something that I thought kept the game interesting each new level. Also, they had an awesome soundtrack that I thought really added to the game. Additionally, the strategy of buying new powers was something that you have to think through, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to figure it out the first time. I would recommend making sure every girl’s power-up is on the same level, otherwise the game starts to get hard to beat. Overall, I would give Iceblast four out of five stars.
