Jewel Match’s unique theme is a fairytale like surroundings with birds in lithesome trees and green meadows, gray, ominous mountains and forests. The background art is beautifully done in pastels with picturesque castles and make-believe palaces. You feel like you are floating on a cloud through this magical and fantastic land breaking gems and jewels.
The play in Jewel Match is to match 3 or more gems to score points in order to move on to the next level. The helps in this game is to score enough points to win 3 different hammers. Each one is different from the metal hammer which removes only one stubborn gem in your way or to the jeweled hammer which can destroy all gems of one color. The more powerful the hammer the more points needed. The challenges in Jewel Match were the chained jewels and the gold and silver blocks you have to break before the hourglass runs out of sand. Even though it was timed, I never felt that I needed to rush through the game.
If you want a match game with beautiful graphics and soothing music and easy to learn and play, try Jewel Match. It did not perk my interest or competitive nature with its soothing and boring music, but you can play this Mac game without agitation. Even the clashing of the gems breaking sounded somewhat muted and not at all alarming. The only real annoying factor was the birds constantly twittering in the trees, but that may just be my own personal pet peeve.
