Mac Games – reviews and game downloads

Jewel Quest is a match 3 or more items Mac game.  It is similar to the other gem match games like Bejeweled 2 and Around the World.  The different theme of this particular game is an Indiana Jones like adventure.   The story line, artwork and music all represent the archaeological search for the unattainable treasures of ancient civilizations.

In Jewel Quest you find a journal at the university, and in the journal lies the secrets to unknown riches.  The game play is to uncover these secrets by matching 3 or more relics, and in turn, the square will change to gold and you will receive points.  By changing the entire board to gold before the time runs out will take you to the next level.  You begin with 5 lives and can get a bonus life every 50,000 points.  The ranking order (or levels) is Explorer, Adventurer, Excavator, Surveyor and Researcher, with Researcher being your ultimate goal.

The hints in this Mac game are automatic if no moves are made.  The relics will become animated to show you where a move is located.  The chain reactions after matching the relics will garner you higher scores.  You will also lose a life if a level is not completed in time.  The time limit could get frustrating in the higher levels. 

If you like match games, you will enjoy Jewel Quest.  For some, the timed factor may not be very relaxing of a play, however, the theme is an added bonus, and the search for archaeological artifacts in a jungle setting, including appropriate jungle sounds, make this Mac game different enough to give it a try.
