In Plant Tycoon you raise plants in potteries much like the sim play in Fish Tycoon. Also like the aquarium game you must find 6 magical things that impart great powers. In this Mac game you are trying to grow beautiful plants in order to be able to sell them in your nursery instead of keeping your fish healthy and flourishing.
In Plant Tycoon you fill the empty pots with soil, water to soften the dirt, click on the seed (located to the upper left hand corner of the screen), click on the pot and plant the seed. In order to accelerate the growth pattern, you must use hormones to get fast results. In between caring for your plants you will notice interesting insects flying or crawling around the nursery. You click on the net and click on the insect to capture them for your collection. It’s not always easy to catch these bugs, but this part of the game is probably the only action you’ll get in this play.
Another section of the game is the nursery where you can sell your mature plants in order to increase your money to purchase necessary supplies such as better soil, bug spray, more seeds and vitamins. All these things are quite expensive so save your money for the best items. The bug spray is important because very early on in this game you will get bug infestations that will kill your plants and therefore your profits.
The downsides of this game are the bug infestations and plants dying, you have to stay in the nursery in order to sell your plants, and the supplies are so expensive you have to sell all your plants for you to accumulate a lot of income. The upsides are the plants when mature are all different and interesting, the people in the nursery are a little more appealing than the folks in the Fish Store, and you can take a snapshot of your plants to keep on your desktop.
I like Fish Tycoon a lot better than Plant Tycoon because of the moving fish in an aquarium setting. Watching plants sitting on shelves just wasn’t exciting enough for me. However, I know there are a lot of gardeners out there who prefer to play Plant Tycoon with its many ups and down of plant life. Whatever your preference Plant Tycoon is still an unique game with its real time play and 500 species of plants.
