Sudoku Epic Review

Everyone needs a little black dress, or if you are a man, a suit hanging in your wardrobe. It’s one of those basic necessities in life. For a Sudoku player you need at least one straightforward game to have available in your library of Mac games. Sudoku Epic is that game. No story, no loud music, no flashy gimmick to entice you to play. Just 4×4 to 16×16 grids to logically figure out.

You choose the size grid you want to play and then the difficulty level. Along the right there is a column of numbers and letters with the minus sign at the top. You click on one of these buttons and then select your cell on the grid to input that number or letter. If you do not know what the number is, you can markup that cell by right clicking a number or letter on the right column. A very helpful button on the left side is the Show Auto Markup. It will input all the possibilities into each cell. The challenge is to do it yourself but if you are in a hurry or just tired, this button is a lifesaver. When all the cells on the grid are marked up, you start looking for cells with one number in it. By process of elimination and logic you input the rest of the cells.  Each row, column and the dark or light blue inner grid cannot have duplicate numbers.

Sudoku is a logic game made popular a few years back and now you find this game in every newspaper and bookstores. If you have never tried it, you need to catch up with the times and start working on it. Once you master a puzzle, you will be hooked. There’s no math involved so there’s no need to fear that aspect. Sudoku Epic with its different size grids and difficulty levels will start you off on the right foot.

An added plus in this game is the Editor where you can create your own puzzle and the computer will check to see if it is solvable. Also any newspaper puzzle can be inputted for you to solve on the screen and have the computer check your work.

I love to play Sudoku games and found this one to be a good one. It is basic but still engages you with its higher grids where you must input numbers and letters to complete the puzzle. If you are one who needs some pizzazz to a game, try Sudoku Latin Squares or Ancient Sudoku for some variety.
