If world travel is your thing, Mac hidden object game Travel League – The Missing Jewels will take you to many intriguing places. See France, Ukraine, Japan and Egypt while chasing down a jewel thief. Grab your passport and running shoes, and see the sights and unveil the many stolen gems.
Grandpa, a member of the Travel League, an ancient organization, found his precious jewels, his assistant, Isabel and her passport, all missing from his home. The only person he can trust now is Alex his loving and extremely resourceful granddaughter. Alex sets out following clues aided by Mark, Grandpa’s publicist. I’m guessing a publicist has a lot of contacts everywhere. She travels the world looking for the gems and Isabel.
You play as Alex in different foreign cities talking to Mark and his contacts in order to find the jewels. Once you get to a city, Mark will give information on persons you must contact. Sometimes these people refer you to other people who may have the jewels or have seen them. In one instance you help a garden guard find ancient letters and, in turn, he’ll help you with your search. After looking for objects, you may need to find one more object for someone. Each time you complete a scene, you get a postcard of that place.
Mini puzzles are placed after you find the jewels, and they are usually related to jewelry. One was to use a magnet to place the gems back in place and another to unravel green lines to straighten out the jewels. Conversations are dispersed throughout the game with other people. You click on Alex to move the talking forward.
The scenes are all different and you do not go back to the same location, which is a plus in my book, but the same objects do pop up frequently in different places. The pictures are clear, but are the clip art variety, the music is appropriate for each location and usually light and pleasant. The characters are wacky, but annoying with lots of conversations, and the game fun and easy to play. I give it a 3 out of 5 for a relaxed HOG.
