A challenging Mac game, Trivia Machine is like playing Trivial Pursuit but the questions are a lot more difficult. If you are up to the challenge, you will not be disappointed. The questions are well thought out and will take you to task on almost all levels.
The screen is set up with the points or scores displayed on a ladder on the left sidebar. The bar rises every time you answer a question correctly. There are 3 windows at the top of the page and it will reveal 3 levels of subject matter. The left window is Elementary, the middle is Scholar and the right side is Genius. Genius is awarded the most points and is often times difficult to answer but not impossible. The subjects are Technology, Music, Geography, Sports Science, TV, Arts and Literature, History and Movies. Everything for everyone. The 4 answers are provided near the bottom of the game board.
In addition, there is a bar at the bottom of the screen, and if you need, will eliminate an answer. You can eliminate 2 answers giving you 50% chance of getting the answer right or wrong, however you like to look at it. These hints will add to your play by challenging you to take on the Genius questions.
The bonuses appear on the windows and if you get the answer correct, you get the extra turn, extra points or the Lightning Round. The Lightning Round has 10 questions given to you in 1 minute. You are to answer correctly as many as possible in that time period for extra points. You also get more bonus points by completing the level using as few turns as possible.
This game is as enjoyable as Trivial Pursuit, but without the competition from your family. However, you can compete against other people with your high scores. This game is full of information and new questions are updated with automatic downloads. Even though it is very educational, it still is fun to play.
