Winemaker Extraordinaire Review

Winemaker 3

These days, Maria is bored and tired of her old life. Her dead end job is getting her nowhere and on top of that her close grandfather just died. In a letter she receives her grandpa tells her of the golden days she spent in Italy making wine when she was a girl. Along with the memories, clever grandpa also leaves Maria his famous winery and the mission to create the “Vino Ultimae” or the best tasting wine in the world. Hopping on the next plane ride, Maria leaves the big city and moves out to the countryside of Italy to master the fine art of winemaking.

Winemaker Extraordinaire is a pretty relaxed game that revolves around planning financially for the winery, and playing a few minigames to create wine. Go from city to city across Europe to gather pieces of the “Vino Ultimae” recipe and make friends with the Guild of Winemakers. The game is easy to pick up, and teaches you a lot of different types of wine in the world.

The wines and world travels are a nice touch for a relaxing game as Maria is making the shift from city life to country life. Winemaker Extraordinaire is a simple type of game and is satisfying to play. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Who knew so many different types of grapes are out there? I thought there were just green, red, the tiny wine ones, and concord.
