Zuma Deluxe Review

Zuma Deluxe

Is Zuma Deluxe just another puzzle game? Yes and no. Technically it is a puzzle but it is also the self-proclaimed “action puzzler that started it all!” As to the validity of this claim, I am unsure, but what I am sure is that Zuma Deluxe is a fun and fast-paced thiller.

When you first open the game, you have two options: adventure and gauntlet. The adventure mode is where you begin to unlock different levels, called temples. There are 20 different temples each with multiple stages, so this game will take a long time to beat. The other option is the gaunlet, where you continue to shoot marbles to earn a high score.

The basic concept of the game is to remove marbles as they move along the winding path toward the center skull. To remove marbles, you must match three like colors, some of which have special powers (like an exploding bomb, or a time slowing marble). The cool part is that you are a frog that shoots the marbles to remove the ones in the path. The frog is always in different places, and because the paths are windy, it becomes a fun challenge to shoot the balls where you want them to go.

Everything in this game depends upon time. I got nervous playing Zuma Deluxe because the marbles moved so fast and I was determined not to lose. I can attest to the addicting nature of this game because I really had to finish writing a paper, but could not stop playing this. I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars, only because after a while the game gets extremely difficult to beat. I hope you enjoy the challenge!
